Build and Quality

The build quality on the Asus K513 OLED with quite good with an all-metal build. Just like any other Vivobook from Asus, this notebook is quite thin and it comes with an open-to-lift hinge mechanism. The mechanism generally changes the notebook typing position to a slight slant position. It’s done for better air circulation and cooling as claimed by Asus. Other than that the notebook looks sleek, stylish, and ready to dominate the real world.

The notebook comes at about 1.7 Kg and 1.7mm thin.

Ports, I/O and Connectivity

Although Asus has not been so generous with the K513 OLED regarding the ports, it’s quite direct with its offering. It has 2xUSB 2.0 Type-A on the left-hand side and 1xUSB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A,1xUSB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C,1xHDMI 1.4,1X Headphone-out,1X MicroSD card reader, and 1xMicroSD 4.0 card reader on the right hand side.

Although it will have no problem for most users, some creative minds might not be satisfied with it.

Input Devices

Keyboard-The keyboard on the Asus K513 OLED comes with a full-layout keyboard along with a highlighted ENTER key. It offers about 1.4mm of decent key travel and its backlit as well. It gives a nice typing position depending on where you are sitting. The keys feel quite tactile and responsive as well.

Touchpad-The touchpad on the notebook is quite big and responsive. It also features a fingerprint reader on the upper right-hand side of the mouse, in case you need added security. It used windows precision drivers which have become quite common nowadays on modern windows machines.

Display

The display on the Asus K513 OLED is the main highlight. It features a 15.6-inch(1920 x 1080) OLED display with 16:9 aspect ratio. Main highlights include 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, Pantone validated display with a peak brightness of 600 nits. According to Asus, it offers crazy fast 0.2ms of response time with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 1.07 billion colors. Well, those numbers are crazy for sure as well as the display, with an 85% screen-body ratio it’s freaking gorgeous.

Performance

The performance on the Asus K513 OLED is pretty decent as well. One can get up to Intel Core i7-1165G7 Processor 2.8 GHz (12M Cache, up to 4.7 GHz, 4 cores) on the top model with NVIDIA GeForce MX350, 2GB GDDR5 graphics onboard. Even though it comes with the latest G-series processors, it’s quite powerful and will easily sail through any of your daily tasks without many hiccups. Storage

Asus K513 OLED comes with up to 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe® 3.0 SSD and 8GB of DDR4 RAM onboard. Although one can upgrade it later. One can even hook up an external hard drive, if one wants extra storage on it.

Speakers

Speakers on the Asus K513 OLED are pretty decent as well. Powered by both ICEpower and Harman/Kardon the output from the speakers is quiet and loud and clear.

The built-in microphone on the notebook is quite good as well with support for Cortana. It will easily sail through everyday zoom meetings.

Battery Life

The notebook features a 42WHrs, 3S1P, 3-cell Li-ion battery which according to our test gave around 9 hrs from web surfing and 6-7 hours from video playback. So it features a decent battery life within the segment, although we would have expected a bigger battery pack.

Upgradability

The notebook is fairly upgradeable as well. It features one extra DDR4 SO-DIMM, M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0, and STD 2.5” SATA HDD slots for future upgradability. Though the max RAM supportable by the notebook is 16 GB and SSD up to 2 TB.
