This laptop does not try to look apart. This is a very tried and tested design and Dell is sticking with it. The Dell Inspiron 5620 looks like any other Dell laptop in the past, which is boring but functional. The plastic does not feel very cheap but the body may start getting scratches after a short duration of time. The pattern on the either side of the keyboard looks sleek but overall, the fact cannot be denied that a good quality plastic could have had complimented the laptop. Where credit is due, the shell is made of aluminium which helps dissipate the heat easily.
The hinge is good and it does not wobble much, though the single-handed lift is not possible. The second problem with the design starts when we consider the weight, it starts at 1.87 kilos which is on the higher side for this range if laptop. Competition easily offers around 1.4 kilos and lesser and so should have been the case with Dell. But considering the screen size, its just acceptable. Overall, not so unimpressive build for the price point.
