Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED Review

Asus has finally launched its latest Asus Zenbook Flip OLED lineup in the Indian market. This Asus laptop is packed with the latest features and processors and is ready to rule the Indian market.

Asus has always been consistent with its designs and offerings and Asus Zenbook Flip 14 OLED is no less.

Build Quality

Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is built like a tank with a sturdy built quality. The 360-degree ergo lift hinge also protrudes confidence while operating it. It’s a metal body weighing around 1.40kg in total. The ergo lift hinge mechanism gives room for a greater cooling mechanism to the laptop as well as gives a sweet spot for typing while on a desk. Its compact screen size of around only 14-inch and 15.9mm thin makes it versatile enough to carry anywhere one wants. For customer convenience, it features US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standard certification as well.

Ports, I/O and connectivity

Even though The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is compact and small in size, it packs quite some ports. It features 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A,2x Thunderbolt™ 4 supports display/power delivery,1x HDMI 2.0b,1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, and a Micro SD card, reader

It also features the latest dual-band wifi 6 along with Bluetooth 5.0 for better connectivity. And it also comes with wifi-6(802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.2(Dual-band).

Input Devices

Keyboard-Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED features a backlit chicklet style keyboard with a support Numpad on the trackpad, which comes out at the press of a button. The keys also feature 1.35mm key travel and are quite tactile and responsive to type on.

Trackpad- The trackpad on the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is quite big(for windows laptop) with a support Numpad on it. Its LED-illuminated Numpad can be used along with the cursor for better convenience. It also comes with windows precision drivers for better accuracy, though not as good as the MacBooks(pun intended).

The Asus laptop also features a fingerprint on the power button for easy and one-touch login with the windows hello feature. The Web cam is substandard as usual even at this price range

Display

The display on the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is good is quite an understatement. It comes in 1 options i.e.,14-inch 4k(3840×2400) or 2.8k(2880×1800).All other vast features include a 16:10 aspect ratio, 0.2ms response time, 550nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1,000,000:1, VESA CERTIFIED Display HDR True Black 500, 1.07 billion colors, PANTONE Validated, 70% less harmful blue light, SGS Eye Care Display, Touch screen, With stylus support, Screen-to-body ratio: 88 %.

Also, the lower 2.8k display version features a 90Hz refresh rate screen, in case you want to do some light gaming. Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED’s price varies as you upgrade for various other features.

Performance

The notebook comes packed with the latest processors, so one need not worry about its performance.

It also comes in 2 options i.e., Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 Processor 2.8 GHz (12M Cache, up to 4.7 GHz, 4 cores) and Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 Processor 2.4 GHz (8M Cache, up to 4.2 GHz, 4 cores). Intel Iris Xe graphics is standard for all the Intel models

Both of these processors are more than enough for day to day work.,light editing as well as video and photo editing. As a matter of fact, it will be amazing to edit 4k HDR videos on this laptop’s bright OLED display.

Also, some light gaming with a 90Hz beautiful screen is just a cherry on the top.

Storage

Asus offers 3 storage variants on the laptop i.e., 1TB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 4.0 Performance SSD,512GB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 4.0 Performance SSD,256GB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 3.0 SSD.

It also comes in 2 different RAM configurations,16GB LPDDR4X and 8GB LPDDR4X. Overall these specifications are more than enough for a regular user. Professionals can upgrade or use an External SSD if needed.

Speakers

Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED comes with premium Harman/Kardan speakers for better sound output. They do sound great but still, Macbook reigns supreme when it comes to notebook speakers.

Battery life

Equipped with a 3 cell Li-ion 63Whrs of battery, Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED promises 6-7 hrs of battery life on mixed usage. Though on light usage and only video playback one can expect longer battery life.

Upgradability

The storage on The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is the only component that is upgradable.RAM is soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradable at all
